We're getting towards the end of the happy hounds crochet along! I can't believe we're most of the way through!
In the past any dog used for the horrific "sport" of bull-baiting was known as a bulldog. Over centuries a stocky short-muzzled breed was developed as they were the dogs that tended to win the fights. Since bull-baiting was outlawed in 1835 the breed standard has been maintained by The Bulldog Club, the oldest speciality breed club in the world.
